Here I am at the Mount Baker Ski Area skiing with Connor in typical Baker weather (notice that I'm covered in snow). This was taken from the Blueberry Cat Track near the ski area boundary looking across at Mt. Herman right before we dug into the untracked below.
This awesome basin is beneath the 8,128 ft. summit of Crater Mountain, near the North Cascades Highway between Ross Lake and Rainy Pass. Connor and I hiked up to its "false" eastern summit (off the right side of the photo). A tougher hike would be to the true summit you see at the top of the photo, but our hike covered 5,200 vertical feet in less than 6.3 miles and that was enough for us. I'm going to try to go back and camp in this basin and spend the next whole day exploring the peak.
Toward the end of three weeks of Structural Geology I still wasn't tired of hitting rocks! This is from the summit of Earl Peak at about 7,000 ft in the east-central Cascades and that dominating rock in the background is Mount Stuart, Washington's second tallest non-volcanic peak and sixth highest peak overall; its summit reaches 9,415 feet.
This picture was also taken on the Structural Geology trip. The camera is looking south from the southernmost of the Hidden Lake Peaks. These are north of Glacier Peak above the Cascade River. If you look hard you might be able to see a very faint outline of Glacier Peak top-center in the photo.
Robin is with me in this picture taken looking eastward from Suntop Mountain near Mt. Rainier. You can see her again on my "friends" page. You can also see Mt. Stuart again just to my right in this picture. It looks pretty small because it's on the opposite side of the Cascades.
Mount Shuksan is one of the most photographed mountains anywhere and you can see why. The mountain is a few miles east of Mount Baker but not visible from Western Washington. My dad took this picture of me on a snowshoe hike to Artist Point in January. I also have pictures of him and Nancy from the same trip.
Look at my "James Bond" Page I made with some friends from the dorms in '96.
